Our story
You are built for more.
KULI means to carry, to lift, to bear. LEGACY is what you leave behind. Put them together and you have the reason we started: to build something with our own hands that our family can carry forward.
Kuli Legacy is a Black-owned, woman-owned, family-owned brand built on belief, intention and growth. We were created from a simple truth: you are built for more. Not more noise. Not more pressure. More purpose. More clarity. More direction.
We're a family in Merrillville, Indiana. There’s no factory behind us and no one we hand the work off to. We design it, cast it, pour it, print it and pack it ourselves, together, around the same table.
Why concrete. Why refills.
Most candles end up in the trash the day they burn out. We wanted the opposite: a vessel with real weight, made to sit on your table for years.
So we built ours to stay. When the candle is gone, the vessel isn’t. Clean it out, drop in a refill, and light it again. Buy the vessel once and every candle after that costs less.
The vessel is the product. The candle is the introduction.

How it’s made
From our screen to your table
- 01
Designed
Every vessel, lid and bowl starts on our screen. We model it, 3D print the master, and make our own molds from it.
- 02
Cast
We mix KuliStone, our own concrete blend, and cast each piece by hand. The fine linen texture and the woven K come straight out of the mold.
- 03
Finished
Each piece cures, gets checked, and is sealed inside to hold the wax. The lids are cast in concrete too.
- 04
Poured
Coconut soy wax and a wood wick, poured in small batches in Merrillville, Indiana.
Hidden in every vessel
Where we come from goes in the floor
Cast into the bottom of every piece is an Adinkra symbol, from the visual language of the Akan people of Ghana. You can’t see it while the candle burns. You find it when the wax is gone.
- Hwemudua, the measuring stick: excellence and quality. In the 9oz.
- Aya, the fern: endurance. In the 5oz.
- Sankofa, “go back and get it”: learn from the past to build the future. In the Kuli Bowl.
That last one is the whole idea. Legacy isn’t only what you leave. It’s what you carry from the people before you.
A note from the founders
Built together, with intention
Kuli Legacy started as a family vision. We wanted to make more than a product. We wanted to make a reminder: progress doesn’t have to be loud to be real, and legacy is built through consistency, belief and faith in who you’re becoming.
Each of us brings something different, but we stand on the same foundation: faith, discipline and the drive to build something that lasts for this generation and the next.
This is for the ones who keep going through uncertainty, through pressure, through the moments when quitting would be easier. Thank you for being here, and for being part of this legacy.

Built for more
It’s on everything we make, and it’s meant for whoever lights the candle. You’re carrying more than you let on, and you’re built for it. Take a minute. Light it. Come back to yourself.
